Oppo announced this week that it will offer four new versions of Android for some smartphones in 2023.
With the ever-increasing price of smartphones in Brazil and around the world, being mobile for longer seems to be the only viable option. There is no consensus in Android on the quantitative pace of using new clothes with different brands that complement the update policy of the latest versions and Chinese Oppo.
The Asian brand took advantage of the delivery of ColorOS 13 to announce the promise of delivering four major updates of Android for some of its devices that will be released next year. This means that if a phone is announced as Android 13, it will be updated to at least Android 17.
Oppo leaves phones secure for longer
Another important point of the announcement is that there is no time for security fixes, now five years. With this, those who echo staying with the clothing for longer, or cannot change as frequently as they would like, end up ensuring protection against hackers and solutions to close gaps found in the operating system for quite some time.
The less exciting part is that the new update policy involves only devices launched from 2023 onwards and Oppo has not even said which ones they will be. Generally, this care tends to be greater in more expensive models, passing to intermediates over the years.
This was the path taken by Samsung, which just recently. Currently, it delivers the same four major updates for smartphones like the Galaxy S21, S22, and the Z Flip and Fold 3 and 4 families, including for simpler or entry-level phones.
